About this page
This page lists counsellors and therapists with specialist knowledge of trauma related to birth. They have paid to advertise their services. While every effort has been taken to verify the counsellors on these pages, any contact with the people listed is made at your own risk.
How to advertise
If you’d like a listing on our website, you must be accredited with the BACP or a similar professional organisation.
Please email details of your accreditation and the text for your advert (maximum 200 words). To pay, please set up a monthly standing order with your bank of £3 a month, from the 1st of the month. (Most banks now allow you to do this from their website or banking app). Just let us know when you’ve set it up.
If your bank doesn’t allow you to set up a standing order online, please print out the standing order film below, fill it in for £9.00 per quarter, out, scan it in and email it to us.
If you are not able to scan the mandate, then you can post it to the treasurer at this address. If you would like to make an additional donation, you can do so via JustGiving.

Birth-related trauma can profoundly impact your emotional wellbeing and transition into motherhood, leaving you feeling overwhelmed and isolated. If you're experiencing flashbacks, intrusive memories, or feelings of violation, you're not alone. Whether navigating the challenges of motherhood with your baby or grieving a loss through miscarriage, stillbirth, or termination for medical reasons (TFMR), I am here to support you.
Chloe O’Connor
I specialise in supporting women navigating the complex aftermath of birth trauma and perinatal loss, including anxiety, trauma symptoms, and depression. With over 11 years of experience in the NHS, charity, and private sectors, I offer a compassionate and specialised approach integrating EMDR, Psychodynamic Psychotherapy, and Art Therapy.
Dr Melanie Gunning, Greenbank Psychology
I am a senior Clinical Psychologist with 15 years experience working in NHS clinical and leadership roles across specialist trauma, maternity and neonatal, and parent-infant relationship settings. I offer face-to-face and online therapy specialising in the perinatal period to support parents, often alongside maternity professionals, or during NHS review and complaints processes. I will meet you with an open heart to hear your story and work together to understand and find a way through.
Katie Robertson
Being a new parent can be an incredibly challenging time, we can often feel judgement and expectations of ourselves and from society that pregnancy and motherhood should feel a certain way. We can have a whole number of questions – Why is being a new parent not what I expected? Why haven’t I bonded with my baby? Why do I feel so sad? Why was the birth not what I had planned?
Izzy Anstis
I'm Izzy Anstis, a specialist CBT and EMDR therapist with over 12 years NHS experience. I am passionate about helping women, particularly during the perinatal period. I understand how having a difficult birth experience can have a profound impact on your mood and experience of parenting. I strongly believe that therapy can help. You might not have felt heard during your birth, I want to hear you now.
Ruth Duebbert
I'm an Integrative Therapist with a passion for helping adults navigate life's challenges, from anxiety and depression to grief, loss and trauma. Lauren Forrest
I'm a highly specialist perinatal clinical psychologist with 11 years of post qualification experience working with clients across the lifespan with varied presentations. Since 2021 I have specialised in working with parents in the perinatal period in maternity and neonatal services. I am also the mother of three children, so I truly understand the great joy but unique challenges the perinatal period can throw up.
Chloe Spindlove

Experiencing a traumatic birth is devastating. Maybe you were spoken to unkindly. Maybe you thought you, or your partner, or baby might die. Maybe something happened to your body that felt violating. Maybe life as a parent is not what you imagined it would be. I am an integrative counsellor with over a decade of experience supporting new families in non-clinical roles. I work with adults and all types of family including LGBTQ+ and solo parents.
