Lauren Forrest

I'm a highly specialist perinatal clinical psychologist with 11 years of post qualification experience working with clients across the lifespan with varied presentations. Since 2021 I have specialised in working with parents in the perinatal period in maternity and neonatal services. I am also the mother of three children, so I truly understand the great joy but unique challenges the perinatal period can throw up.

I work remotely with all issues related to fertility, pregnancy, loss, birth trauma, navigating pregnancy after birth trauma and/ or loss and the transition and adjustment to parenthood. I have a particular interest in birth trauma and I am involved in facilitating birth reflections clinics within my NHS role. A big part of my role includes thinking about trauma informed needs in preparing for future births.

My practice centres around creating a warm, compassionate, containing and non-judgmental space with clients where it feels safe enough to explore and process some of the difficult feelings and experiences they have had. You will feel heard, seen and validated. Please get in touch to chat more about how I can help you.

Qualifications and experience include:

Doctorate in Clinical Psychology (HCPC registered)

Masters in Psychological Therapy in Primary Care

Therapeutically I am trained to deliver trauma focused CBT, EMDR and compassion focused approaches. However, I work integratively which means I will draw on different psychological theories and models to best meet your needs. I have completed further specialist training in:

  • EMDR (parts 1-4)

  • Newborn Behavioural Observation (NBO)

  • Video Interactive Guidance (VIG)

  • Infant Mental Health Online

  • Perinatal Loss and Grief

  • Trauma Focused CBT in the perinatal context

  • Depression in the perinatal context
