Kate Foster

MSc Psychotherapy, Dip. Couns

I am a qualified psychotherapist with many years of experience of working with mums, partners and parents-to-be.  I have managed an NHS perinatal counselling service and have expertise in working with many of the challenges that can be experienced in the perinatal period.  These include:

  • Birth trauma and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), including symptoms such as flashbacks, nightmares, sleep difficulties and anxiety

  • Fear of giving birth (tokophobia)

  • Perinatal loss (miscarriage, still birth, ectopic pregnancy)

  • Complex PTSD (CPTSD) including traumatic experiences triggered by birth

  • Anxiety and depression during and after pregnancy

  • Issues relating to infertility or fertility treatment

If you are looking for a therapist to support you, please be reassured that I offer a non-judgemental space to explore your difficulties, maybe your parenting journey has been challenging and your birth experience has left you feeling scared and alone. Together we can work towards resolving your distress.

I am an EMDR trained practitioner and therefore able to also work specifically with trauma.

For further information about my services please feel free to contact me.
