Dr Katherine Ferdenzi

Katherine is the director of Cheshire Psychological Therapy and specialises in working with parents, parents to be and their babies and young children. She is a very experienced clinical psychologist and has worked for 20 years in both private practice and within NHS Perinatal and SureStart Early Intervention teams.

 Katherine has extensive training in both trauma and in attachment issues. She is able to offer specialist therapy for those who need support with anxiety, OCD and depression before, during and after pregnancy; infertility miscarriage and pregnancy loss; assisted reproduction; and couples issues around reproduction and early parenthood. She offers psychological support for individuals considering parenthood and same sex couples, and couples who are separating or divorcing regarding co-parenting. Katherine works with birth trauma and PTSD following birth, tokophobia (the fear of pregnancy and giving birth) and in difficulties in early parent-infant relationships. She also trained and experienced in offering adoption related therapy and therapeutic parenting advice and support.

Katherine uses several psychological models of therapy including Interpersonal Therapy (IPT), CBT, EMDR, Compassion Focussed Therapy, psychodynamic and attachment models, integrative therapy, couples work, parent-infant work using VIG, Watch Wait and Wonder, Circle of Security Parenting and Mellow Parenting/Bumps and Dyadic Developmental Psychotherapy (DDP - attachment based family therapy).

Katherine works from a centrally located practice in Chester. Katherine is recognised by the British Psychological Society (BPS) and the Health Care Professionals Council (HCPC). She is registered with most of the major private health care providers and can also offer privately funded help.
